Rupnagar, 4 February: Government High School Raipur has proudly secured a national-level certificate in the Green School Program, organized by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE). The award ceremony, held on February 4, 2025, at the prestigious India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, saw S. Jagjit Singh, the school’s representative, receiving the award from Sunita Narain, Director of the Centre for Science and Environment and Chief Editor of Down to Earth magazine.
Also present at the ceremony were Pritpal Singh, Executive Director, K.S. Bath, Joint Director, and Dr. Mandakini Thakur, Project Scientist, from the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology. This recognition places Government High School Raipur among the six schools from the Rupnagar district selected at the national level, alongside Government Senior Secondary School Roop Nagar, Government Senior Secondary School Lutheri, Government Middle School Ghra, and Government Middle School Sakpur.
This achievement has only been possible with the guidance and support of the District Education Officer Shri Sanjeev Gautam ji and Deputy DEO S. Surenderpal Singh ji. The dedication of S. Sukhjeet Singh, all GSP coordinators, and environmental coordinators played a vital role in this success. Additionally, S. Dharminder Singh Bhangu, Lecturer, Javtinder Kaur, S. Jagjit Singh, S. Prabjeet Singh, Science Mistress Manjeet Kaur, and Rajesh Dharmani were all awarded for their exceptional contributions to the Green School Program. Notably, Government High School Raipur is the only school from the Takhatgarh Block to achieve this distinction, reflecting its exceptional commitment to environmental education and eco-friendly practices.
