Rupnagar/Sri Chamkaur Sahib, August 18: Taking a major step towards promoting scientific temper and experiential learning after dedicating various development projects to the people in Chamkaur Sahib assembly constituency, Honorable Chief Minister of Punjab S. Bhagwant Singh Mann Ji inaugurated the STEM Mobile Bus in Rupnagar yesterday.
The initiative aims to increase practical exposure of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to school students across the district.
The inaugural function was attended by MLA Dr. Charanjit Singh Channi, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varjit Walia, Additional Deputy Commissioner Miss. Chandra Jyoti, District Education Officer Mr. Prem Kumar Mittal and District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) Mr. Karan Mehta.
Teachers present on the occasion included Mrs. Sandeep Kaur (Principal), Mrs. Javtinder Kaur (Lecturer, Biology), Mr. Prabhjeet Singh (Science Master, Government Middle School Bhoje Majra), Mr. Rohit Kumar (Vocational Teacher, GSSS Noorpur Bedi Boys), and Mr. Tajinder Singh Baaj (Science Master, Barsalpur).
A special feature of the programme was the participation of students of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Ropar, who demonstrated innovative scientific activities inside the bus. Trained by the dedicated faculty of the school, the students displayed excellent confidence, creativity and practical skills, which impressed the dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister lauded the initiative, stressing that the mobile bus will ignite scientific curiosity among students, especially in rural and semi-urban areas. Fully equipped with robotics, electronics kits and model-making setups, the bus is designed to provide interactive and real-time STEM learning experiences to learners across the district.
