ਅੱਜ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ 14ਵਾਂ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਵੋਟਰ ਦਿਵਸ (NVD) ਮਨਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ। ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਵੋਟਰ ਦਿਵਸ ਹਰ ਸਾਲ 25 ਜਨਵਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਚੋਣ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਦਿਵਸ ਵਜੋਂ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦਿਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਨਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਅਤੇ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਾਗੀਦਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਉਣਾ, ਚੋਣ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਕਰਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਧਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਦਿਨ ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੋਣ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਬਲਕਿ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ‘ਤੇ ਵੀ ਧਿਆਨ ਦਿਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਵੋਟ ਪਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਸਾਡਾ ਮੁੱਢਲਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਹੈ।
Today we all Indians are celebrating 14th National Voters’ Day (NVD). National Voters’ Day is celebrated every year all over the country since 2011 to mark the Foundation Day of Election Commission of India. The main objective of celebrating this day is to encourage people’s participation in elections, spread awareness about the electoral process and increase voter turnout, especially by encouraging and honouring new voters. This day not only encourages the youth to participate in the electoral process but also brings awareness that the right to vote is our basic right.
