Good morning to all, I am Nandani Nar. Today i.e. 23rd August as we celebrate India’s first National Space Day. I am here to throw some light on the significance of this day.
National Space Day is being celebrated today August 23rd , it is a day to recognize and celebrate India’s advancements in space exploration and honour to the remarkable achievements of the Indian Space Research organisation.
National Space Day enhances public awareness of the importance and benefits of space exploration ,promoting national pride and unity. It remindes us the need for continued support & progress in this essential field.
India’s space program has made many achievements in the 78 years since the country gained Independence. Including-
1. First satellite- Aryabhata- In 1975, India’s first satellite Aryabhata was launched by the soviet union, making the country’s first step into satellite technology.
2. First indigenous satellite- Rohini- In 1980 India launched its first indigenous satellite, Rohini, using its own Satellite Launch Vehicle 3
3. Mangalyaan- In 2014, India’s Mars Orbiter Mission ,also know as Mangalyaan , became the first Asian Country and fourth space agency to successfully launch on Mars Orbiter Mission on its first try
4. First Moon Mission – Chandrayaan – 1- In 2008 India launched Chandrayaan -1 , its first mission to the Moon . India discovered Water Molecules there .
5. First Soft Landing – Chandrayaan -2 – In 2019 , India launched Chandrayaan -2 , its first attempt to soft land on the Moon .
6. First Lunar South- Pole Landing – Chandrayaan – 3 – In 2023 , India became the first country to successfully land a spare craft on the south pole of the Moon .This mission will help us understand the origin and evolution of the Moon.
India’s space program has also helped the country develop socio-economic technologies, such as remotesensing , communication technology & metrorological services.
From Aryabhata to Chandrayaan -3 ,Mangalyaan to Aditya L-1 , India aims to build an Indian space station by 2035 and land the first Indian on the Lunar surface by 2040.
So let us take pride to witness this remarkable journey of our great nation & strive to keep the spirit going.
