Adolescent Education Programme
Sri Anandpur Sahib, 19 Feburary: A one-day training session under the Adolescent Education Programme focusing on menstrual health, hygiene, and mental well-being was organised on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sri Anandpur Sahib. The programme aimed to sensitise teachers about adolescent girls’ health issues and strengthen their role in providing proper guidance to students.
The main resource person, Dr Ambika Sharma, Ayurvedic Medical Officer, Kiratpur Sahib, delivered an informative session on various aspects of adolescence. She discussed the different phases of adolescent age, menstrual cycle, common problems and related symptoms, mental health concerns, and the importance of maintaining proper health and hygiene. She also emphasised the need for open communication and awareness to help adolescent girls manage physical and emotional changes confidently.
School Principal Neeraj Kumar Verma addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of girls’ education along with health and hygiene awareness. He encouraged teachers to play an active role in guiding students and creating a supportive school environment.
During the programme, Anamika Sharma (Science Mistress), Mrs Meena Devi (Vocational Trainer – Healthcare), and Mrs Simranjeet Kaur (Vocational Trainer – Science and Services) also shared their views and stressed the importance of awareness and education regarding adolescent health.
Teachers from 26 schools of Block Anandpur Sahib and Kiratpur Sahib participated enthusiastically in the training session. The programme proved to be highly informative and beneficial, equipping teachers with essential knowledge to support adolescent girls effectively.
