Rupnagar, June 26: Acting firmly under the Punjab Government’s campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh,” a total of 417 cases have been registered under the NDPS Act based on confidential information received through the Safe Punjab Portal. Additionally, 43 cases have been registered on complaints from Village Defence Committees, and 374 cases have been registered based on inputs received via the Safe Punjab WhatsApp Chatbot. These details were shared today by Punjab Cabinet Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains during a district-level review meeting.

While chairing the meeting, S. Harjot Singh Bains stated that under the campaign, block coordinators, ‘Pindan de pehredar’, and the general public have shown trust in the Punjab Government’s initiative and actively reported drug traffickers and anti-social elements through various platforms. This collective participation has enabled large-scale legal action across the district.
He further stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has acted strictly in accordance with the law, breaking both the networks and morale of drug traffickers. He added that representatives from village-level committees themselves acknowledged that drug activities have declined.

However, he emphasized that continuous and intensified efforts are still required to eradicate drugs completely. He reiterated that the “Yudh Nashian Virudh” has become a people’s movement, which will lead to making both the state and Rupnagar district drug-free.
Cabinet Minister also highlighted that the Mann Government has taken major initiatives to connect youth with sports. The sports budget has been significantly increased, a new sports policy has been introduced, playgrounds are being developed, and gym equipment is being provided in villages.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Shri Aaditya Dachalwal stated that the objective of the meeting was to review the functioning of committees formed from district to village level and to strengthen coordination. He emphasized that only collective efforts can ensure complete victory in this battle.
SSP S. Maninder Singh said that the police are continuously working to break the backbone of drug networks. He stated that large-scale drug recoveries have been made and strict legal action has been taken against traffickers.
SSP Maninder Singh informed that from January 1, 2026, to June 25, 2026, a total of 452 cases have been registered and 669 accused have been arrested in the district.
He further added that property worth ₹43.66 lakh has been frozen under the NDPS Act. During this period, 220 awareness seminars have also been conducted by the district police to educate people against drugs.
District Coordinator (Yudh Nashian Virudh) S. Harpreet Singh Kahlon stated that the Mann Government follows a zero-tolerance policy against drugs. He sought feedback from officials and urged them to immediately report any issues to the police or administration. He encouraged everyone to work actively and collectively under this campaign.
During the meeting, block coordinators shared information about sensitive and other areas within the district with the Deputy Commissioner and SSP to ensure stricter implementation of the Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign in the future.
