Mumbai, March 5: India booked their place in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after defeating England by 7 runs in a high-scoring semi-final match on Thursday.
Batting first, India posted a massive total of 253/7 in 20 overs. Star wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson played a sensational knock of 89 runs off 42 balls, smashing several boundaries and sixes to power India to one of the highest totals in T20 World Cup knockout history.
England fought hard during the chase. Young batter Jacob Bethell produced a brilliant century, scoring 105 runs, keeping England in the contest until the final overs.
However, India’s bowling attack held their nerve in the death overs. Pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya delivered crucial overs to restrict England to 246/7, helping India secure a thrilling victory.
With this win, India has advanced to the grand final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, where they will face New Zealand national cricket team on March 8.
